Creamy’s By Cayla Jordan

HO-LY CHEESECAKE!

Nestled on the corner of 12th and R streets in the Art District of Sacramento is a hidden little gem, Creamy’s by Cayla Jordan (IG: @CreamysByCaylaJordan). Cayla offers an array of delicious cheesecake creations, but trust me, these aren’t your average cheesecakes.  While simple, the picturesque setup isn’t hard to miss on the bustling Warehouse Artist Lofts block, which has been blossoming to its full potential the last few years. The walls are lined with greenery and the lighting, linen and cake stands are every pinterester’s dream.

As of last week, you can also get these bites of heaven at the Sacramento Ice Rink located at 7th and K, across from the Golden One Center (closed 11/6/18 due to power outage). The ice rink location is a self-built tiny home – perfect for an outdoor setup like this. You do not have to pay to get in the ice rink to access her shop…just walk right up and treat yo’self!

But the R Street and K Street locations haven’t always been home. You may recognize the shop from an Arden Fair Mall pop-up last Christmas. Before that, other coffee shops and markets served as its temporary pop-up “homes” and once upon a time, Cayla simply took orders and shipped without a physical shop.

What makes these different you ask? Well, quite simply, quality. Cheesecake is only cream cheese and sugar until you add special flavoring to turn it into a coffee lover’s dream or put it on top of the most flavorful crust you’ve ever tasted. Texture is everything to me and I hate when cheesecake is too mushy. These are NOT. And the crust has the perfect texture – not too crumbly. The pecan a nutty hint to it. To be fair, I’ve only had three flavors, but that alone makes me wish I had discovered these 10 months ago when I was pregnant and it was socially acceptable for me to eat an entire sleeve in one sitting.

The six pack of mini’s shown above retails for $18 and contains the following:

  1. Plain Cheesecake
  2. Chocolate Cheesecake
  3. Coffee Cheesecake
  4. Pumpkin Cheesecake
  5. Caramel Pecan Cheesecake
  6. Chocolate Chip Cookie Cheesecake

Of these, I’ve tried the plain, the Caramel Pecan(my favorite), and this little unicorn…

…the Chocolate Chip Cookie Cheesecake Sandwich. That’s right. Creamy cheesecake goodness surrounded by two soft chocolate chip cookies, frozen to perfection. Think “Cream” ice cream shop without the melting mess. Oh. My. Gah. From time to time she also has seasonal sweet treats like caramel apples and occasionally participates in collaborations with other local bakers to create magic like cheesecake filled donuts (SO SAD I MISSED THIS).

When you taste them, it’ll be hard to believe that this isn’t Cayla’s only talent. Before Creamy’s she had a YouTube channel, #CaylaJordanTV, where she baked AND cooked a variety of recipes. But once cheesecake developed into her specialty, she went all in. Now that I’ve discovered her cheesecakes (THANKS VICKI!!) I’ve got to get my hands on a copy of #CheesecakeQueen – her very first, self-published book released in 2017. I’ve tried to track it down but haven’t been able to find it on her site or on Amazon. Once I get it and I’ve tried to whip up a few recipes, I’ll let you know what I think!

In the meantime, don’t just take my word on it. Head on over to 12th & R or 7th & K to taste these for yourself. Next week (11/15/18), a THIRD location opens at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville, 2nd floor, right above Santa.

People of Sacramento/Roseville/Rocklin, you’ve GOT to try these!
